Actuatech manual override actuator

Established in 2001, Actuatech started the production of its pneumatic part-turn actuator with the purpose of servicing valve manufacturing companies and pneumatic flow control specialists. Actuatech (see company profile) introduced its double acting “GDV” and simple acting “GSV” series Actuatech Manual Override Actuator , a special scotch yoke design that provides an increase in torque and the seat break out point.

The Manual Override Actuator has a smaller volume/size than a rack and pinion actuator (with identical torque) and therefore takes up less space required for installation and less weight than the rack and pinion (-30% kg / Nm). These product characteristics lead to substantial savings on the construction sizing of the plant/equipment , Actuatech states.

“The MOA also needs lower air consumption compared to the rack and pinion actuators (-40% air cm3/Nm for double acting and -20% air cm3/Nm for spring return. Therefore, there is less load on the compressor or the possibility of using a smaller compressor's size.”

Shaft anti-blowing system

Actuatech’s rolled cylinders are fine lapped which diminishes wear of the energized ties thanks to the low roughness of the surface. The cylinders also have undergone anodized surface treatment for lower friction and perfect piston sealing and increases the life of the sliding parts .

Bush steel alloy and scotch yoke steel alloy and the use of steel parts instead of aluminium parts ensure high-wear resistance to the internal mechanism and consequent longer working life . Energized and self-lubricated strips allow less friction between piston and cylinder . It prevents the bonding of the seal to the cylinder even after long periods of inactivity thanks to the use of “Shaft anti-blowing system” - the driving shaft/lever construction - avoids any possible expulsion of the shaft.

Thanks to all those technical details, Actuatech can guarantee a “maintainance-free” condition for the full actuator’s working life in appropriate working conditions.

Atex- and SIL 3-certified

Actuatech Manual Override actuators have an Atex-certificate and are SIL 3-certified of the high level of functional safety. The actuator’s nominal torque start from 30 Nm to 3840 Nm and can mount flange according with DIN/ISO 5211, DIN 3337: F05 - F07 - F10 - F12 - F14 - F16. The actuator has the NAMUR- standard pressure connection From sizes bigger than GD15, NAMUR interface for solenoid valve is already integrated. There is no need for an extra plate.

About general technical details , the rotation angle is 92°  ( -1°+91° ) and with a nominal pressure of 5 to 6 bar can work up to a maximum operating pressure of 8,4 bar. The torque is directly proportional to the operating pressure.

For the simple acting (spring return) actuator, the reverse torque is performed only by the spring action and is independent from the operating pressure.

Temperature range

The temperature range is from -20°C to +80°C (Special version HT -20°C to +150°C or LT -50°C to +60°C). Actuatech Manual Override Actuators can operate with different media and compress filtered air not necessarily lubricated (for temperature under 0°C use dry air). In case of lubricated air, they can use non-detergent oil compatible with NBR rubber.

All the models are available in double acting “GDV” and simple acting “GSV” version and are 100 percent in- house manufacturing process technology and maximum control and accuracy in all the stages of the manufacturing process.
