Checklist photographs

The following will help you select the pictures to be used in an article. These guidelines have been compiled based on experience; it is of the utmost importance that the photographic material is of the highest quality in order to maximise the impact of the article.

Number:	About 3 to 4 pictures are needed for an article, but please submit as many as you can, so we may choose the most suitable ones. You may indicate your preferences.
Subject:	Shots including people are preferred (for cover stories), as they attract most attention.
Format:	Pictures should be sharp and in full colour; both vertical and horizontal are possible for the article. Slides are preferred, but photographs (as large as possible) can also be submitted. We regret that photo negatives cannot be used.
Digital:	Should you wish to submit your photographs digitally, we require them in a .jpeg, .eps or .tiff format at 300 dpi, size A4 ( a full page). As size A4 is approximately 8 by 12 inch his means that we need a resolution of 2400 dots (300 X 8 inch) by 3600 dots (300 X 12 inch). Please note that e-mailing photographs tends to give problems due to the size of the file.
Return:	All material will be returned on request, after the magazine has been published.
Captions:	Please make sure that there is a caption for each picture. Please write the caption on the back of the pictures with a water-proof marker or on a sticker (a pen or pencil may damage the picture and/or show through), or provide a list with captions that refer to numbered pictures. Do not use paperclips to fasten a caption to the picture, as it may damage it. Please include credits, if necessary.
Layout:	The magazine is the product of KCI Publishing BV and we will therefore take care of the layout. Given the publishing schedule it is not possible to show you the layout before publication.
Courier:	If you want to send the photographs by courier please send them to our street address since shipments by courier can not be send to a PO Box.
